What This Grade Calculator Does

  • Calculates your current grade from assignments, quizzes, and exams
  • Works as a grade percentage calculator (percent-based grading)
  • Works as a grade calculator with points (earned points / total points)
  • Shows your grade average and (optionally) a letter grade
  • Lets you drop the lowest score (because sometimes the past deserves to be forgotten)

If you need a final exam target, use our Final Grade Calculator

If your course uses category weights, use our Weighted Grade Calculator

How to Calculate Your Grade (Without Guessing)

There are two common grading styles:

1) Points-Based Grading (Most common)

You earn points and the class has a total number of possible points.

Grade % = (Total Earned Points ÷ Total Possible Points) × 100

Example:

  • Earned: 182 points
  • Possible: 200 points
  • Grade: (182/200)×100 = 91%

2) Percentage-Based Grading

You already have percent scores per assignment (like 85%, 92%, 76%).

Your result is usually the average grade of the percentages (unless your class is weighted—then you want the weighted calculator).

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Choose a method: Points or Percentages
  2. Enter your scores (add as many rows as you need)
  3. Optional: enable Drop Lowest Score or add Extra Credit
  4. Click calculate
  5. Read your grade… and decide whether you're celebrating or "starting fresh tomorrow"

Understanding Your Results

  • Grade Percentage: your current overall grade as a percent
  • Earned vs Possible: total points you've earned out of total available points (points mode)
  • Average Grade: your average across entries (percentage mode)
  • Letter Grade (optional): if enabled, based on a standard A–F scale (or your custom scale)

Common Grading Mistakes (That This Tool Prevents)

  • Mixing points and percentages without converting them
  • Forgetting that a 10-point quiz and a 200-point exam are not "equal vibes"
  • Ignoring extra credit (it counts, even if your motivation doesn't)
  • Doing math in your head while stressed (a bold choice)

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate my grade?

Enter your scores and totals (points mode) or your percentages (percentage mode). The calculator returns your overall grade percentage instantly.

What's the difference between grade calculator points and grade percentage calculator?

Points mode uses earned points out of total points.Percentage mode averages percent scores (unless grading is weighted).

Can this calculate a semester grade?

Yes—enter all graded items from the semester (assignments, quizzes, exams) and the calculator will estimate your semester grade so far. If the class uses category weights, use the weighted tool.

Can I drop the lowest grade?

If your teacher allows it, yes—enable "Drop Lowest Score." If your teacher doesn't allow it, you can still use it to see how much that one disaster is hurting you.

Is this the same as a weighted grade calculator?

No. If your class has categories like Homework 20%, Exams 50%, Participation 30%, you want: /weighted-grade-calculator

Do I need an account?

No. It's free and instant. We don't need your email. Your teacher already has enough of your personal data.
